Also, never use the crate as punishment. The crate should be seen as a sort of safe haven, somewhere the dog WANTS to be. Using the crate for punishment can have the exact opposite effect on your puppy. Also, it shouldn’t be over used, only when you can’t supervise the puppy; aka you’re not home, at night time, etc… Best of luck, and congrats on the new puppy!
